Sports Drinks Should Not Be Your Beverage of Choice

Posted on 2/20/2018 by Brandon Cooley
Sports Drinks Cooley Smiles Kenmore WA 98028-4839Sports drinks are often thought of as being great for your health, but this is something that is actually far from the truth. Sports drinks have a high sugar content in them, which can lead to a lot of health problems.

In addition to this, they are also bad for the teeth. Being high in sugar and also acid, they can cause a serious amount of havoc in the mouth that you would otherwise be able to ignore.

Reducing the Chances of Oral Problems After Sports Drinks

If you drink sports drinks, though water is better at hydrating the body, you should always do some maintenance to clean out the mouth to remove the sugar and other acid that is sitting on the outside enamel of the teeth. When the teeth have this build up on the outside of them, they break down with this drink.

One of the best ways to reduce the amount of decay that happens on the outside of the teeth with sports drinks is by chewing sugarless gum while drinking them or by alternating the sports drink with a cup of water. Rinsing your mouth out with the drinks can provide you with a way to reduce the sugar and other build up that is on the outside of the teeth.

Remember, since these drinks have a semi-acidic content level, it is best to wait for at least a half hour or so before you decide to brush your teeth. If you brush too soon after consuming the drink you can cause more harm than good to your teeth.

Speak with us to have regular cleanings to ensure that the outside of your teeth are clean and healthy. With our help, you can ensure that you have a confident, beautiful smile even when you drink sports drinks.

We can help you reduce the build up that happens on the outside of teeth so you can reduce the amount of cavities that you get from them.
