3 Most Popular Types of Cosmetic Dentistry
Posted on 3/20/2018 by Brandon Cooley
First, let us have a review about cosmetic dentistry. What is cosmetic dentistry and why do you need this? Cosmetic dentistry is the science of dentistry involving dental works that will improve the appearance of the teeth and gums. Although the procedures under cosmetic dentistry do not necessarily involve improving the functionality of teeth and gums, these procedures focus on teeth color, teeth alignment, tooth shape, tooth size, and the overall smile. Yes, this may not seem like a specialty area of dentistry, as per American Dental Association, but improving your smile is always an important aspect in improving self-confidence. Today, let us talk about the three most popular types of cosmetic dentistry. Teeth WhiteningYou may already know that teeth whitening is indeed one of the most popular types of cosmetic dentistry. Aside from being the most popular dental procedure in improving the teeth appearance, it is also one of the least expensive and painless dental procedures that one can have. Teeth stains and discoloration are unavoidable. That is why dentists came up with teeth whitening procedure to help you achieve a whiter shade for your teeth, so you can smile without hesitations. Dental VeneersIf the teeth whitening procedure is not enough, you may want to consider dental veneers. The main purpose of veneers is to improve the appearance of your teeth. These are also used to protect the enamels from damages that can lead to tooth decay and infection. There are two types of materials used in veneers. One is composite and the other one is dental porcelain. The composite veneer can be placed in the mouth during the procedure or it can also be created before bonding it to the tooth. Meanwhile, the dental porcelain veneer should only be created before the procedure and then later bonded to the tooth. Dental ImplantsNow, this type of cosmetic dentistry can be really expensive. Dental implants are the perfect dental procedure for people who lost one or more of their teeth. Although expensive, dental implants promise not just improved appearance and smile, but also improved functionality. The dental implant work and function just like the natural teeth. The procedure includes inserting of titanium screws into the gums and capping it off with a composite or dental porcelain tooth. If you want to improve the way you smile, contact us today!...
